Tasks.app is under active development. Most features listed on the landing/pricing page have not been (fully) developed yet. Furthermore, we may reset the database and storage at any point.

Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Tasks.app, you agree to comply with and be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, you must not use the platform.

2. Description of Service

Tasks.app is a free, open-source task management application designed to be a simple alternative to Trello. We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the service at any time, with or without notice.

3. User Accounts

To use Tasks.app, you may need to create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account information and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account. You may not transfer or assign your account to any other person or entity without our prior consent.

4. Acceptable Use

You are allowed to use Tasks.app for any lawful purpose. You must not:

  • Use the platform for any unlawful, fraudulent, or abusive activities.
  • Attempt to disrupt or interfere with the platform's functionality, including attempting to gain unauthorized access to any part of the platform.
  • Engage in excessive or abusive use of our services that may degrade the performance or usability for other users.

We reserve the right to suspend or ban users permanently, with or without notice, for violations of these terms or abusive use of our services.

5. Free Tier Commitment and Pricing Changes

Tasks.app will always offer a free tier of service. While we may introduce premium features in the future, the basic functionality will remain free to users.

5.1 Workspaces, Boards, Collaborators, and Plans

  • Workspace: A workspace is a logical grouping of boards, labels, and collaborators.
  • Board: A board is a logical grouping of tasks within a workspace.
  • Collaborator: A collaborator is a user that has access to a workspace with full or limited permissions to view and/or modify data within the workspace.
  • Plan: A plan is a set of limits and permissions that apply to a single workspace.

5.2 Paid Features and Plans

From RELEASE_DATE onwards, Tasks.app will introduce a new paid feature related to file uploads. This feature incurs a cost to provide, and as such, it will be part of the platform’s first paid plan.

  • All users will have a "Personal" workspace created for them on RELEASE_DATE, and all existing boards will be transferred to the owner's personal workspace.
  • Each workspace will be assigned to a Free Plan by default.
  • The Free Plan will have certain limitations on file uploads and other premium features.
  • Paid plans will be introduced to provide additional resources such as higher file upload limits, additional collaborators, and more advanced features.

No resources created or used before RELEASE_DATE will be deleted or restricted. Users who previously enjoyed unrestricted usage will retain access to their existing data, but new usage may be subject to plan limitations.

6. Payments and Subscriptions

Tasks.app uses Stripe as its payment processor for all paid plans. All payment processing and validation is handled by Stripe, and no credit card information is stored by Tasks.app. Stripe may not be available in all countries, which may limit the availability of paid plans for users in certain regions.

6.1 Payment Terms

  • By signing up for a paid plan, you agree to provide accurate and complete payment information.
  • Stripe will handle all transactions securely and in compliance with industry standards. We recommend that you carefully review Stripe’s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy before signing up.

6.2 Payment Failure and Downgrades

  • If a payment fails or is not fulfilled on time, your access to premium features will be restricted for one month.
  • If the payment remains unfulfilled by the end of the second month, your workspace will be forcibly downgraded to a Free Plan.
  • After a forced downgrade, all excess usage will be deleted permanently.

6.3 Plans and Pricing Changes

The details of the available plans, including their limits, are listed on our pricing page. Users will be notified of any plan or pricing changes 30 days before they take effect.

6.4 Data Handling and Download

Tasks.app currently does not offer a "Download My Data" option. However, once this feature is available, it will be provided free of charge and will not be restricted behind a paywall. Users will have the ability to download their data between the one- and two-month notice periods if payments are not completed.

6.5 User Identification with Stripe

Tasks.app may share certain non-personal identifiers with Stripe to link users within Tasks.app, including randomly generated user IDs. Workspace names may also be shared, but no personally identifiable information (PII) will be shared with Stripe.

7. Data and Privacy

By using Tasks.app, you consent to the collection and use of your information as outlined in our Privacy Policy. We take privacy seriously and commit not to sell your data to third parties. We will only disclose information if required by law.

8. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your account and access to Tasks.app immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including but not limited to your breach of these Terms of Service. Upon termination, your access to the platform will cease, and any data associated with your account may be deleted. If you had a paid plan, any unused portion of the subscription will not be refunded.

9. Limitation of Liability

Tasks.app is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. We make no warranty that the service will meet your requirements or that it will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free. You agree to use the service at your own risk.

In no event shall Tasks.app be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or related to your use of, or inability to use, the platform. Our total liability to you for all claims shall not exceed the amount you paid for the use of the platform.

10. Force Majeure

We shall not be held responsible for any failure to perform our obligations under these Terms if such failure is caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, strikes, internet failures, or governmental actions.

11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms of Service are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Uberlândia, MG, Brazil. Users are responsible for complying with all applicable laws in their respective jurisdictions. Any disputes arising out of or related to these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration in accordance with the commercial arbitration rules of arbitration body. The arbitration shall take place in Uberlândia, MG, Brazil.

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms of Service at any time. Changes will be posted on this page, and your continued use of the platform following the posting of changes constitutes your acceptance of such changes.
